QUALITY STANDARDS
As per the specifications for CBOT Soybean Meal traded on the CBOT Exchange.
Soybean meal contains 47.5% protein and is produced from ground soybeans with reduced oil content in the specified product using hexane or similar hydrocarbon solvents.
The standard specifications are:
- Minimum protein content: 47.5%.
- Minimum fat content: 0.5%.
- Minimum fiber content: 3.5%.
- Maximum moisture content (when tested by the processing department): 12.0%.
- The product may contain nutrients and non-toxic anti-caking agents to enhance flowability at a level of 0.5%.
- The names of the additives must be included as one component of the product.
Testing methods accepted by AOAC (Association of Official Analytical Chemists) and AOCS (American Oil Chemists’ Society) are applicable.
