QUALITY STANDARDS
1. According to the regulations for Arabica coffee products traded on the ICE US Commodity Exchange:
Arabica coffee accepted for trading includes Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3, which meet the delivery standards of the ICE US Commodity Exchange. The classification of Arabica coffee aligns with the grading method of the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) as outlined below:

Three hundred grams of coffee beans are used as a test sample with sieve sizes 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18. The beans retained on each sieve will be weighed, and the percentage of retained weight is calculated after sieving.
- Type 1 Coffee: The beans have no more than 5 defects per 300 grams of coffee. There are no primary defects in the beans. A maximum of 5% of the weight is retained on the used sieve. The coffee exhibits at least one distinguishing characteristic in the beans, flavor, aroma, or acidity. No defective, rotten, or immature beans are allowed. Moisture content ranges from 9-13%.
- Type 2 Coffee: Contains no more than 8 total defects in 300 grams. Primary defects in the beans are permissible. A maximum of 5% of the weight is retained on the used sieve. At least one distinguishing characteristic in flavor, aroma, or acidity must be present in the beans. No defective beans are allowed, and it may contain up to 3 immature beans. Moisture content is between 9-13%.
- Type 3 Coffee: Contains no more than 9-23 total defects in 300 grams. It must retain 50% of the weight on sieve size 15, with no more than 5% of the weight on sieves smaller than size 14. Up to 5 immature beans are allowed. Moisture content is between 9-13%.
- Type 4 Coffee: 24-86 defective beans in 300 grams.
- Type 5 Coffee: More than 86 defects in 300 grams.
